TEHRAN — A senior Iranian political-security official has formally rejected a recent U.S. ceasefire proposal, declaring that Tehran will independently dictate the terms and timing for ending ongoing hostilities.
Speaking exclusively to state-run outlet Press TV, the official dismissed U.S. diplomatic overtures made via regional intermediaries, characterizing Washington’s efforts as disconnected from battlefield realities.
« Iran will end the war when it decides to do so and when its own conditions are met, » the official stated, reiterating Tehran’s intention to maintain strategic pressure until its geopolitical demands are satisfied. « The end of the war will occur when Iran decides it should end, not when Trump envisions its conclusion. »
The Five Conditions for Peace
Tehran outlined five non-negotiable prerequisites required before any formal negotiations or cessation of military action can proceed:
- Immediate Cessation of Hostilities: A complete halt to all aggressive military actions and targeted assassinations by enemy forces.
- Security Guarantees: The establishment of enforceable binding mechanisms to prevent future war from being reimposed on Iran.
- Reparations: Guaranteed compensation and payment protocols for war-related damages inflicted on the nation.
- Regional Scope: A comprehensive conclusion of hostilities across all operational fronts, encompassing all regional resistance groups.
- Maritime Sovereignty: Formal international recognition of Iran’s sovereign authority over the Strait of Hormuz as a core requirement for compliance.
The official confirmed that Iranian forces will continue defensive and retaliatory measures, noting that nearly 80 waves of strikes have targeted military assets across the region since the breakout of hostilities following the Feb. 28 assassination of senior leadership. Tehran maintains that direct talks remain suspended until Washington accepts the five-point framework in full.
